There’s something exciting about a rodeo. Maybe it’s the adventure of the bull riding, steer wrestling and barrel racing. Maybe it’s just the undeniable backbone of the cowboys and cowgirls themselves or the dirt kicking up under the strength of the animals hoofs. Or it could be those funny rodeo clowns that keep kids of all ages entertained.
Everything about the aforementioned makes a day, or four, at the rodeo sound thrilling to me.
Luckily, a new experience right up my alley has been added to central Florida, the RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo (RNCFR) is being held for the first time in Kissimmee. Kissimmee, which is adjacent to Orlando and all the theme parks, isn’t new to rodeos. Osceola County’s rodeo heritage dates back to the early 1940s with the Silver Spurs Riding Club.
But, the RNCFR event is the National Finals, sanctioned by the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association). 12 regional competitions have taken place throughout the US over the past year and this is the grand finale where contestants are competing for over $1 million in cash and prizes!!
$1 Million! I’d gladly learn how to rope cattle for that kind of money.
If going to a rodeo is on your bucket list, this is the one.
The event is four days long, though you can purchase tickets just for any single day too. But, I’m not sure why you would want to miss all the events that are planned.
Several other all-ages events are scheduled around the competition, giving the entire week a Festival Atmosphere and suitable for all ages. There will be cattles drives, live country music concerts, a charity fashion show and the first annual Florida Heritage Barbecue Classic. This mouthwatering event is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, with hundreds of competitors and plenty of great barbecue to sample.
Sounds like a Hootin’ and Hollerin’ good time will be happening in the Wild Wild “East”.
The inaugural event will take place March 25-28, 2015
Ticket prices $15-$35, a bargain for an afternoon or evening full of entertainment. Each night features a different theme: Latin, Faith & Family, Military Appreciation and Champion Night.
