I am having a serious love affair with Venice canals in Northern Italy. I lay awake at night fantasizing about our next Italian date.
This is not just lust.
This adoration happened even though all the naysayers warned me of my loves potent sewer smell, pricey restaurants and overcrowded streets. But, all I could see was the fantastical labyrinth of canals. Maybe after dating for a while I will be nagged by the aforementioned allegations, but right now my love is blind.
One of the stunning views from the Valporetto #1 boat, which weaves its way from Piazzale Roma to Piazza San Marco. A perfect substitute for the significantly more expensive gondola ride through the Grand Canal.
How would you like boats in your backyard?
These canals are apparently a no parking zone. Or all of the tenants have taken their boats to work.
No need to boat through the canals, many bridges cross over the Venice canals and through the perplexity of the towns streets. The bridges are almost as fascinating as the canals themselves.
Can you see why my love is so deep? Even though we were lost in this complex maze fifty percent of the time, I could think of no better place to be misplaced.
Have you seen the Venice canals?

I love getting lost in Venice too! It's such a pleasure to wander through such beauty and history and wonderfulness. :-)
Oh your Italy posts just kill me! I just returned from Florence and I want to go back so badly! I should make it to Venice next time I go ;)
I loved Florence too! Definitely go to Venice next time, it is spectacular!
Annette,
You are so right about Venice, there is so much to love!
absolutely!!!
I long for Venice and I've never been… someday.
Put it on your list, it’s gorgeous!
Yes, I can understand your love for Venice from what I've heard and seen. The canals look so romantic. I'm eager to have my own affair with Venice one of these days.
I hope you are able to have your affair really soon :)
Hmmm……..being lost among the Venice canals. Added to my Bucket List.
Good addition :)
I love Venice, too, and although it can be super crowded at times, I always managed to find a quiet spot somewhere! I was sad that we didn't make it to Venice when we went to Tuscany and Cinque Terre in the spring, but I hope to go back soon – maybe next year? :)
I heard that the streets could be really crowded, but when we went there were not many tourists. I hope you get back there soon!
