5 Colors. 5 Photos. 5 Travel Memories.

A new, and very colorful, contest is running rampant over the web, created the Capture the Colour contest. It’s simple, there are 5 colors, you choose five memorable photos to represent each. Piece of cake.

Whoa. Not that easy. If you are anything like me, you will be sifting through thousands of photos, reminiscing along the way.

Many thanks to John at Travel Rinse Repeat and Elle over at Veni Vidi Vici for nominating me to participate in the contest. It’s nice to not be the lonely kid on the playground anymore. And I hope you both win Ipads, I hope I win one too.

Look to the left and see the Mayan Ruins of Tulum in Mexico, look to the right and witness some of the bluest waters in the World. I suffered dizziness from shaking my head in every direction to capture the stunning scenery. The margarita didn’t help.

One of the most memorable and picturesque meals I’ve had while traveling was this roasted bone marrow & parsley salad at St. Johns Bar & Restaurant in London. Spread like butter.

The colorful dancers at this Hawaiian luau, left me envious. I want to wear a petal skirt, shake yellow flowers and wear a lei. At least they left me with dozens of photographic opportunities. And the Maui sky wasn’t too shabby of a backdrop.

I woke up way to early to see the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace in London, but every photo taken says it was the right decision. My favorite picture being this one with the regimental mascot, an Irish Wolfhound.

After being bit by an ostrich at the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch in Arizona, this donkey smiled at me and made it all better. True story.

(His teeth might have fit under the yellow category too.)

Which photo is your favorite?

Now I get to nominate 5 fellow bloggers to keep the ball rolling:

  1. Great shots Annette, I think Yellow is my favorite.  I love that it captures the movement of her skirt.
BTW I'm still grossed out by the thought of you eating bone marrow.  Yuck.

  2. Bone marrow was way better than lambs tongue!

  3. Yay! Thanks for the nomination! I loved Tulum, too!!

  4. You’re very welcome. I can’t wait to see your photos!

  5. White!  Definitely. The others are great too white is so unique!

  6. Thanks! I had to use that photo as the white one because it just makes me smile :)

  7. I still love that smiling donkey

  8. Me too. He makes me smile :)

  9. Fabulous!! I love Yellow! xx

  10. Thanks :)

  11. I agree with CeCe, I could make that donkey my laptop background photo, he' so cute!

  12. Now that’s a GREAT idea, it would start my morning with a giggle!

  13. I'm with yellow! Amazing shot, especially with the neutral background.

  14. I think that ones my favorite too :)

  15. I love your yellow and red pictures. They both really capture the moment (and the color). Good luck!

  16. Thank you :)

  17. Wow, the yellow really captures the moment! But the white makes me giggle! :)

  18. I had to throw one funny one in there :)

  19. These are amazing. The yellow one is one of the best I have seen so far!

  20. Thanks so much for the kind words. I do love that one and the memory it brings :)

  21. Me and my husband so love bone marrow from beef.. We tasted a bone marrow soup from Thailand, and that was so delicious! Love your photos! Thank you for posting.

  22. I will have to try bone marrow soup when I am in Thailand in February!

  23. Love your photos, especially the one of tulum! Reminds me of the gorgeous sugar cane mojitos we had there!

  24. Sugar cane mojitos? How did I miss those!!

  25. I love the Tulum picture the best—I'm a sucker for beaches, and Mexico is a place that's on my list. You really have a wonderful eye for capturing unique angles because the Hawaiian picture is my next favorite. Gorgeous shots!

  26. I am also a sucker for beaches, everytime I see a photo of one I wish I was there :)

  27. Nice shots! I was going to nominate you and then I saw that you had already been nominated! :-)

  28. Thanks for thinking of me :)

  29. Loving these shots, they're so vibrant! I think capturing the essence of a person, place, or experience is very  difficult but you've seemed to do it with these.

  30. Thanks!
